Right guys. So me and Zach have been discussing launching a new server for the bandits... Only problem is money. Right now my Dad says he'd be willing to pay for it, but would LIKE to get some assistance. The price for paying for a dedicated, 24/7/365 server is roughly $20/monthly. Not a ton, BUT he still doesn't wanna fork out $20 every month for a bunch of people he doesn't know. I guess I understand that.

If anybody would be willing to help pay for the server we could DEFINITELY get it running. If everybody chipped in $3-4 a month -- even bimonthly, depending on how many people donate -- we'd have more than enough to keep the server running. Naturally any money donated would stay with the server, I wouldn't use it for anything else.

SO, if I could get some input here as to who'd be willing to chip in I'll hook people up with the PayPal and stuff.

For the same reasons I cant buy the full version I can't donate as much as it pains me, but I can still -run- the server, also if 10$ a month isnt too much try that 1$ per person deal.

The $1 per person deal didn't mention the extra $50 flat rate for hosting.. >.> DICKS.

Well, even MORE of a reason for a new server..

ALSO: Still waiting on the release of Bukkit 1.2.. If it's not released by like.. Next Wednesday we'll just start without it.

Also, Mojang hired Bukkit--no idea what effect this will have in the short run, but over time the official server is going to essentially BE bukkit.

as long as they allow offline mode ill be fine with it

btw I cant even play on the UGC server anymore, they made online mode so only people who bought the game can play.

You can probably get in big trouble for having it on offline mode, Zach.

Trouble for having an offline server? uh, no...

Offline server= no need to buy the game= loss of money for Mojang.


I don't see why they, as a business, wouldn't want more money.

First off: they don't have a magical list of all servers that are active.
second off: if they were REALLY against offline servers, it wouldn't be in the server properties as something you can change as easily as the limit of players...
third: mojang has one of the least-harsh views on piracy I have ever seen in a development company.

Hmm.. I see your point. I also believe when they said that once you bought the game, it was yours.. so no actual rules to the game ITSELF.



Still, there is still a lot of time for Mojang to get Jagex'd.

Also Kaipoint #3. I don't think we'll ever see Notch -- or Mojang -- crack down on piracy. They don't give a fuck. After 5 million people have bought the game ALREADY, I don't think the minority (pirates) are of much concern to them.

That being said, there's no reason not to buy such an amazing game from such an amazing development team. The money supports them and says "good fuckin' job, guys."

And yeah, Kai, I know that Mojang added Bukkit to the company, so I'd assume the servers will come with bukkit in future updates. Until then we wait patiently.

Yea I'd totally buy it if I could, and I def will once Im 18 and have my own card
