Subject: The "Golden Age" Petition Tue Feb 12, 2013 10:34 pm
Recently, as most of you know( if you keep up with runescape a little ), The Evolution of Combat was released, in other words, Jagex put the cherry on top of the banana split of "Fucking up Runescape". Pretty much all of runescape raged and 100k players quit.
Sowr3cked one of runescape's most popular pker gathered whats left of the runescape community and made a petition. The petition asks for Jagex to make two seperate servers, one with the current corporate bastard runescape and one with old runescape in the 2006-2007 time period.
Here's a video that explains most of it:
This is a chance to bring back THE "Golden Age" of runescape, the runescape that we probably had school grades suffer to play. The runescape that we all know and love.
So i ask The Pizza Bandits to PLEASE sign this petition and hopefully get the old runescape back. I don't want to see the game that this clan was built upon perish, as well as the clan itself. Every vote counts, I don't care if we propose it and get rejected. At least the Golden Age community gathered and tried to get the game they spent much of their life on and to give it a chance to live on again.
The Pizza Bandits was a big part of my life. Let's bring back the game it was started on.
They've proposed the idea of bringing back servers. But of course, the vote to bring it back is members-only. Go ahead and read the whole thing, but if you're too lazy, here's the big idea: They found a backup that dates back to August 2007. With 50,000 or more votes, they'll put up the servers with a membership fee of about $15 and there will be no content updates. With 250,000 or more votes, they'll lower the fee to $5 and include basic maintenance (bug fixes and little improvements). And the goal that I'm really rooting for... 750,000 votes! Which will bring back the servers with no membership fees.
So, considering how many people are still active members, I'm thinking they'll get to the second goal of votes. But with enough dedication from desperate veterans that'll pay 5 bucks to become a member really quick just to vote, maybe it'll happen. I'm not willing to be a member again though, so maybe you guys are okay with just the second level.

Why the FUCK would they make that poll members-only?! THAT pisses me off. Jagex is a perfect example of a company that utilizes ZERO common sense in just about any decision they make.

Well good news. They've already hit the 50,000 mark in one day. It's open for two weeks, so I'm feeling a bit hopeful.

Wait now.
Level 4 - 750,000 or more votes:
2007 Servers will come back as a separate entity to the main RuneScape game, with a larger dedicated development team with no extra membership fee and the free portion of the game available to all. These servers will receive continuous maintenance, modern anti-bot technology if necessary and - crucially - regular members' polls to determine which updates you want to see prioritised.
This seems worded that only the free portion of RS 2007 would be available even if you achieve the highest level

That wouldn't really bother me, to be honest.
But yeah, I don't think that's what they're saying; I also doubt it's an attempted inclusion of a loophole. They SAID they had the whole game at an earlier point in the post, too...
.. I think.

They did mention the fact that they had a whole version. And although f2p 2007 would still be fun even Members back in the day was a blast it would only improve the game.
Unfortunately it seems that we're going to be stuck with 250k votes max due to the Members Only poll, although the poll spiked to 100k votes within a day, the majority of supportive members already voted, I can see maybe 50-60k who may still vote for it.
Also I think there will be 50-100k that will buy membership for the sole purpose of voting which in my opinion is the exact reason they created this poll, shell in more dough from the voters who will buy a months worth of membership just to get RS2007 back.

The poll for old 2007 is currently around 123k votes. I'm personally annoyed that f2p cannot vote for this and I'm sure as heck not going to be buying mems just for this. I hope that the poll does reach the required 750k votes for the free portion of the game to be open.
Another aspect of this is that everyone will be starting with new accounts so it'll be interesting to have everyone start from scratch at the same time. If they do get 750k votes for the free version, I'm going to try to do Dragon Slayer from as low of a level as possible .

Wait, if we don't get 750k what portion of the game do we get?

750k isn't for just the free version f2p and members will most likely be available no matter what. It's whether you not you have to pay for it which at 250k votes is like normal rs2007 with a 5$ membership fee.
The max I see happening is 250k votes, as tbh most of the current subscribed "members" are bots lookin' for money from the actual couple hundred thousand that are legit that still even play.

Jagex set the petition goals to be achievable by their current member base, which as a private company, are not sharing with the public... so... leads me to think that they may actually realize that they might have a slight problem with bots in the game.

Who cares, Atleast we got it back. I'd be willing to pay 15$ for that old runescape feel. We could always strike again "We pay we say". And luke

If it doesn't hit 250k I may play f2p but I'm not paying 20$ a month for old RS.

I tried out some f2p mage pking today with the new combat system. Almost killed a guy but he teled and then got repeatedly rushed by rangers. Range is so over-powered now...

"Remember: anyone who votes will get their first month of old school RuneScape for free, regardless of the poll outcome. So, register your vote and encourage all your friends to do the same!"
It's almost worth it now, because you only have to pay a months worth of membership fees for one month to get a vote and a month free of the already guaranteed game, thoughts?
AND we only need 500k votes for maximum perks as we've almost hit the 250k mark with tons of time still voting. There may still be hope yet?

Well unless we get 750k votes you have to pay no matter what 500k is all the perks but in order for there to be a seperate f2p we need 750k otherwise it's a members only game.

Servers coming on tomorrow. Read through some Q&A they just held. Absolutely no chance whatsoever for F2P vote. Even with the suggestion of only F2P with a certain number of hours logged or a specific total level.
