| (One thing to keep in mind is this is based on a Windows 7 operating system, however Windows 8 should be very similar.) WARNING: All of these programs, as 99% of them do, may have some toolbar or a "Pro" version they want you to trial, just make sure to uncheck all of these and do not try the pro versions.1.) The very first thing I ALWAYS do when I first startup/setup my new PC is download Google Chrome, this is the very best browser you can use in my opinion and I highly recommend it. Chrome- https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/2.) After Chrome has been downloaded, I use two different programs as my antivirus, Avast! Free antivirus keeps viruses off your computer, and on the off-chance one sneaks through, Malwarebytes detects and quickly removes them after you scan your PC. Avast- http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus-2014/3000-2239_4-10019223.html?part=dl-3001bp&ftag=DLA562da74Malwarebytes-https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/3.) Next up on the list are some cleaning tools you will need for your PC, CCleaner and Defraggler are programs you can use to easily clean your PC if you don't really know what you're doing. CCleaner- https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standardCCleaner has a variety of tools to clean junk off your PC the main tool simply removes the garbage out of your internet history/cache, recycling bin, etc... Simply open the program and click "Run Cleaner" Next CCleaner can also scan and fix registry errors click the registry tab on the side and then click scan for issues. After the scan is complete click fix selected issues... CCleaner also has tools for uninstalling programs, drive wiping, etc... explore the program a bit! Defraggler- https://www.piriform.com/defraggler/download/standardI'm sure everyone knows about defragging their computer, and defraggler makes it easy enough. When you finish downloading this program simply just open it and press Defrag! This should be done once a month as you own your pc. 4.) Bloatware Unfortunately you can't really tell what kind of bloatware is going to come with your pc, the best way to get rid of it is by using CCleaner's uninstall tool and KNOWING which one's aren't essential for your PC to function. If you accidentally remove something you weren't supposed to you would be forced to restore your PC to factory new. If you're having trouble figuring out what's what then simply post a screeny/question below! That's all that's to it for this guide, if you guys think I missed anything/have any questions hit me up below. | |

| Thanks man! This CCleaner tool is exactly what I need to get all this shitty bloatware off here.
My dad installed Microsoft Defender on this computer already -- it has antivirus and malware protection. Do you know anything about Defender? Is it a good program, or would I be better off using malwarebites and avast? | |

| Windows Defender is good I would still download avast and malwarebytes, or at the very least malwarebytes though. | |

| Alright, I'll install Malwarebytes as well! Thanks again for the help, mane. Now that I have a functional computer again, I feel as though a part of me has been restored! I can play games again! | |

| Alright Luke, I don't know if you're picking up the hints or not but we want you to try runescape asap. Right now it's me, Zach, Josh, Chris, Caleb, and we've got a good group of other friends. Raurg is hopefully joining us but I think he's on a trip right now and he kinda loves playing dota all the time so who knows. I know we've all bashed on runescape and jagex and hated the game for a while but after trying it, checking out all the new updates, and getting used to everything, I would dare to say it's as fun if not more fun than before. I've been gone for about a week so idk if you've already tried it while I was gone. In that case, good. After such a long break from the game, I think we all have some new motivation to play the game again and work on skill goals and whatnot. So.. I don't know what the problem is that's making you avoid runescape like the plague but please give it a try. And if you still don't like it give it another few tries because you definitely have to get used to everything before you like it, but I guess you could just use legacy mode like a noob. | |

| Nah man, I'm retired. I have no gold. All of my accounts were stripped of their value a year or two ago.
Jagex has fucked the game so much for so long, I just can't put forth any more time or effort into a game that will always have the capacity to change so drastically and without warning. It's nothing against you guys - I'm sure playing with a group of friends really has returned a new dimension of fun to the game. I hung up my dragon boots long ago, however; and I'm not coming back.

| I have more than enough gold to help you get started up and nearly every update is voted on by players now, it'll never be the same game it used to be but it's so different now it's like a totally new experience. | |
