PostSubject: The Guide to Making Guides.   Wed Jun 30, 2010 12:34 am

Introduction
Hello everyone. I'm here to help with making guides. Though it's a simple thing to do,I want to help people making their guides the best possible. I'll be running through these things mainly.

  • Adding Pictures
  • Showing Color
  • Keeping on topic
  • Summarizing.
  • Small things count

Adding Pictures

One thing people really want to see in guides are pictures! I'll go through the steps of uploading a picture and adding it on here.

Click the browse button.

Find where you saved the picture and click on it.

Once you got this on your screen, click the upload button and it will start uploading.

Finally, this will pop up if you did it correctly. If you are using a different Image hosting site it might say BBcode. That is what you would want to click. Now right click the text inside the box and select copy. Right click where you want to place your photo and select paste.

If you did this correctly,it should look like this:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

If you don't want the uploaded with, just delete that part when you're editing it.

Great! now you know how to post pictures! Bronze badge for you!

Don't be scared of color!

People want to see more than white text! Put your topics big and in a certain color like this! It should look somewhat like this:
Code:
[size=18][color=red]Don't be scared of color![/color][/size]

But please, don't color every bit of text a different color either!

Keep it simple, yet creative. It makes it more appealing to the eye!

Great! Now you have an Iron badge! Good job!

Keeping on Topic.

This is another very simple thing to do in your guides, stay on topic! Don't go "To get 70-99 for profit you can go to aviansies and get their adamant bars! By the way,I have 200 mill! I also have 98 range, wish me luck! So aviansies are a good way to gain profit ranging!"

Let me show you what you should delete.

This is another very simple thing to do in your guides, stay on topic! Don't go "To get 70-99 for profit you can go to aviansies and get their adamant bars! By the way,I have 200 mill! I also have 98 range, wish me luck! So aviansies are a good way to gain profit ranging!"

That's basically it,just remember to stay on topic on your guides and go about something else.

Good job! You now have a Steel badge!

Summarizing!

This is easy for you guys, hard for me, because I love to keep going on and on, But please do not. Instead of writing a 5 page report on why chinchompas make great cash and great money, make it long, but don't make it too long!

BAD: "Chinchompas are wonderful creatures which can be found on Feldip Hills, which is near Castle wars. Chinchompas are the best xp and best money because they are stackable so you do not have to bank and they are 500 gp a piece and you can catch more at a time, and you can also increase your xp and putting it by them, and they are around good scenery because I leik Mudkipz!@@ (Well, you know what I mean,it goes a long way down the page, and stuff you don't even need is there.)

GOOD: Chinchompas are amazing Xp, you can find them best at Feldip Hills near the Castle Wars arena. You can get there by teleporting witht he duelling ring or the Mobilising Armies teleport. These animals are stackable, which means you do not have to bank them. They are also one of the best ways to make money with hunter.

(insert hourly xp and gp rates here)

Now you know how to summarize! Mithril Badge!

Small things count!

This is the last section for now. This will be talking about how the smallest things count on the look on the guide. First up is typo's, fix these immediately. Don't be lazy and think no one will care, every typo counts up!

Also,don't use slang.

Ur should be your.
U should be you.
Altho should be Although.
It goes on,but don't ever use these words if you want to make a good guide! These are big no-no's!

Well, this is all I have for now,I will make more if I have to.

Congratulations! You have made the best badge possible at the moment! Adamant Badge!

I hope these helped, thanks for reading!
